1I think psychology as a modern discipline of the social science is at the essential, and rudimentary foundation of the intinsic, and inherent value that the social sciences posses. In other words the term social is directly correlated and related to the intriguing concept that is human nature. Thanks to psychology we are precisely able to comprehend what exactly it is that constitutes our nature by providing us with tools that expand throughout its various disciplines, and fields. The trickle down effect of achieving said understanding is invaluable. More specifically possessing a deeper understanding of the way we function mentally, emotionally and physically will enable us to communicate, and relate to what we are each trying to convey, and portray as an individual. This is something that is paramount if we aspire and desire to tackle issues such as domestic violence. In order for the collective to be effective the individual must be positioned in a situation where they could maximize their potential, and contribution to our society. I believe psychology does just that by providing resources, and methodologies to identify weakness, and accentuate virtues, and strengths within the individual.
2The importance of psychology in the studies of contemporary societies can not be emphasized enough. As I mentioned above there are methods which focus on empowering not only victims of domestic abuse but individuals in general to achieve a state of self actualization. Now this profound understanding that psychology provides in not limited to just the individual. In fact one can make the inference that said comprehensive, and holistic understanding of the individual which encompasses the mental, emotional, and physical realms serves as the rudimentary building block of a far more extensive understanding of contemporary society as a whole. The comprehensive understanding of the collective enables us to embrace our strengths and face our weaknesses as a unified organism if you will.. So that we can identify methods which will serve the purpose of allowing us to continue to grow develop and evolve improving the state of our society, and quite frankly humanity as a whole.
3At the risk of coming off in a redundant fashion the influence psychology has on the social sciences can not be accentuated with enough fervor to do its impact justice. The social sciences study those elements which compose past, and contemporary society and humans have, are and will always be the heart, and soul of the such therefore any discipline which places its focus on understanding human nature as a whole mentally, emotionally, and physically will be at the core of anything of substance in relation to the social sciences.
The issues, and problems that psychology studies via its various fields, and disciplines is quite extensive, and broad. Some of this issues include
- Mental Health
- Sociopathy
- Psychopathy
- The negative effects of different external factors such as the economy, the environment, social contracts, and unhealthy relationships.
- The causes of abusive behaviors towards our loved ones, and in many cases towards ourselves.
Psychology is used to manage contemporary problems in our society by providing incisive analysis which in turn lead to the development of effective, and efficient solutions which cater to the specific contemporary issue include the following: Single parent households, drug abuse, domestic abuse, violence in schools, and materialism.
Psychology is used to study some of the issues plaguing our society within my country by providing different resources, and tools such as counseling for recovering drug addicts, marriages which are in the verge of being dissolved, and medical assistance for individuals who suffer from mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder via the branch of neurology.
